Our EZ Fare passes are the most convenient way to pay to ride the bus. Instead of using cash or tokens, simply purchase one of our EZ Fare Passes and use it like a prepaid credit card when boarding the bus. Compare EZ Fares to standard fares:

Transfers

• Transfers are free.
• Ask operator for transfer immediately upon boarding and deposit exact fare.
• Transfers are for use only in a continuous direction–from point of origin to point of destination.
• Transfers are not good for a return trip on the same route.
• Transfers are good only for the next available bus, not to exceed one (1) hour.

Senior Citizens

River Valley Transit participates in the PennDOT Free Transit Program for Senior Citizens. Senior Citizens (age 65 years and older) with the state identification card or Medicare Card can ride any River Valley Transit route free during all normal operating hour.

Apply for your free senior citizen state identification card, stop in at the Trade & Transit Centre Information Office or at the River Valley Transit Administrative Offices.

If you are 60 or older, you can obtain coupons to ride free during all hours. Each trip requires one coupon. Stop in or call the Bi-County Office of the Aging at (570) 323-3096.

Disabled Persons

$1.00 cash fares are available for certified disabled persons that present one of the following cards when boarding the bus:

• PA Reduced Transit Fare ID Card*
• RVT Plus ID Card
• Medicare Card

*Applications for this free card are available at the Trade & Transit Centre Information Office, the RVT Administrative Office, or any state-authorized transit agency.

This reduced fare is available on weekdays (except from 7:00 a.m. - 7:59 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. - 5:29 p.m.). Free transportation is also available, all day Saturday, and on designated holidays. A personal care attendant rides free when accompanying a person with a disability.

Children

Children under the age of six ride free when accompanied by a fare-paying adult (School trips excluded).

Students

Lycoming College and Penn College students ride free (click here for more details).

One fare takes you anywhere in the River Valley Transit system.

USING YOUR EZ FARE PASSES:

ONE-DAY PASS:

To use this pass, swipe the Pass Card through the magnetic card swipe each time you ride the bus.

2-RIDE PASS, 10-RIDE PASS & 20-RIDE PASS:

To use these passes, dip the Pass Card into the magnetic fare card slot located on the top of the farebox each time you ride the bus.

7-DAY PASS & 31-DAY PASS:

To activate your pass, dip the Pass Card into the magnetic card slot located on the top of the farebox. The current date and expiration date will be printed on the back of the Pass Card. After initial use and activation, simply swipe your Pass Card through the magnetic card swipe each time you ride the bus. A beep will sound letting both you and the driver know that the pass has been accepted. You can use your Pass Card for unlimited rides during the specified period, as indicated on the back of the pass. Days must be consecutive.

OTHER EZ FARE PASS OPTIONS:

CHANGE CARD:

This card will be provided upon request if you overpay. Change cards can be applied towards your next fare on any farebox equipped RVT vehicle. No refunds.

ELECTRONIC TRANSFERS:

This card will be provided free upon request. Transfers are good for one hour to travel in a continuous direction – FROM POINT OF ORIGIN TO POINT OF DESTINATION. You must show the transfer card to the driver of your connecting bus and swipe it through the magnetic card swipe.

COINS/TOKENS:

Insert coins/tokens (no pennies please) one at a time into the Coin/Token Insertion Cup (do not mix coins and tokens).

COIN/TOKEN RETURN CUP:

Rejected coins/tokens are returned in this cup in the front of the farebox.

BILLS:

Insert bills (ones and fives only) into bill insertion slot. Bills must be flat and unfolded.

FOREIGN CURRENCY:

Fareboxes do not accept foreign currency.
